Duke University researchers tracked 28 indicators of child well-being, starting with a value of 100 in 1985. Figures above or below 100 represent an increase or decrease in child well-being since then. An increase in juvenile crime led to a dip in the 1990s, but the index has been steadily increasing for boys and girls since 1998.
