The Â鶹¾«Æ· Board of Trustees approved renaming the College of Technology to the Â鶹¾«Æ·Institute to better reflect its changing and expanded mission.

Thirty-three teams of engineering technology seniors completed a yearlong industry-sponsored capstone course during finals week with a public poster session highlighting their projects.

Starting this fall, first-year students in the college will experience stronger connections between their majors and humanities courses.

Effective July 1, 2015, the Department of Building Construction Management in the College of Technology will be renamed School of Construction Management Technology.

The Bachelor of Science in Transdisciplinary Studies in Technology was approved by the Â鶹¾«Æ· Board of Trustees April 10. It is aimed at preparing students both for their first jobs and for new tasks they’ll perform decades later.

The Â鶹¾«Æ· College of Technology at New Albany has created a first-of-its-kind entrepreneurial program, thanks in part to a recent faculty grant from VentureWell.

The senior capstone course for School of Engineering Technology students has grown from three projects in its first year to 33 in its current and third year. The college plans to create similar experiences for seniors in its other departments, and they will look to this course's success as a model for implementation

Purdue Polytechnic's "intriguing new ideas" are "well-matched to the moment," he says

In a forum with faculty and staff, Purdue President Mitch Daniels expressed strong support for the Â鶹¾«Æ·Institute and the College of Technology's transformative efforts.

"Many of you have come forward with very intriguing new ideas about a new pedagogy and a new direction for this college, and I have become enormously excited about it," President Daniels said.

Opportunities for innovation and improvement abound on the Â鶹¾«Æ· campus. That is true for students, for faculty and staff, and definitely for an academic unit like the College of Technology.
