KIPP to Open New School

The Houston school board has agreed to lease a vacant school building to the Knowledge Is Power Program for the duration of the school year. KIPP Academy will operate a charter school in the building to serve K-8 students from Louisiana displaced by Hurricane Katrina. At the end of the school year, the building will be offered for lease to a variety of organizations, including KIPP, a nationally known operator of charter schools.
