Seven honored with Seed for Sucess research award

Seven Âé¶¹¾«Æ·Institute professors received a Seed for Success Award during the recent Excellence in Research Awards dinner. Seed for Success recipients are principal investigators and co-investigators who received an award of at least $1 million during the preceding fiscal year.

Five professors from the Department of Computer and Information Technology were honored for the project. Eric Matson, associate professor, is the principal investigator. Co-principal investigators are Eric Dietz, professor; Tony Smith, associate professor; John Springer, associate professor; and Julia Rayz, associate professor. The $1.815 million project is funded by the South Korean Institute for Information and Communication Tech Promotion.

Gozdem Kilaz, assistant professor of engineering technology, was honored as a co-principal investigator for her part in the . The $2 million project is funded by the Office of Naval Research.

Michael Leasure, associate professor of aviation technology, was honored as a co-principal investigator for Automated Sorghum Phenotyping and Trait Development Platform project. The $6.5 million project is funded by Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency.
