Â鶹¾«Æ·’s Office of Research honored the accomplishments and innovative ideas of 275 researchers in an awards ceremony on November 13, 2024. Eight Â鶹¾«Æ·Institute faculty members were recognized as principal investigators (PIs) and co-principal investigators who received awards exceeding $1 million during FY 2024:
- Yingjie Chen: Professor, Computer Graphics Technology
- Joseph Hupy: Associate Professor, Aviation and Transportation Technology
- Nathan Hartman: Professor, Engineering Technology
- Tianyi Li: Assistant Professor, Computer and Information Technology
- Mo Rastgaar: Professor, Engineering Technology
- Julia Rayz: Professor, Computer and Information Technology
- Walter Daniel Leon-Salas: Associate Professor, Engineering Technology
- Greg Strimel: Associate Professor, Technology Leadership and Innovation
Four faculty members—Chen, Li, Rastgaar, and Strimel—were awarded the Seed for Success Acorn Award, honoring their first major grant of more than $1 million.
Yingjie Chen is a co-PI on a project titled “Engaging Family Forests to Improve Climate-Smart Commodities (EFFICACI).” The project received $8,957,033 from the Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Tianyi Li is a co-PI on a project called “SCC-IRG Track 1: Smart Energy Assistants for Affordable Housing Communities,” which received $1,599,996 from the National Science Foundation.
Mo Rastgaar is a co-PI on a project titled “A Cross-Domain Dynamic Gateway,” which received an award of $1,304,994 from the Office of Naval Research.
Greg Strimel is a co-PI on a project called “SCALE K-12 Silicon Crossroads ME Commons,” which was awarded $2.5 million from the U.S. Department of Defense.
