Aviation alumnus named Super Bowl replay official

 

Kevin Brown, a Â鶹¾«Æ· graduate and longtime officiating expert for the NFL, has been selected as the replay official for this Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Brown, will review key plays and ensure the integrity of the game’s calls.

Brown also has a distinguished tenure in air traffic control. He worked as a controller at Cincinnati NDB (LUK ATCT) from 1992 to 1994, then spent two decades at Indianapolis (IND ATCT) before moving to Indianapolis Center (ZID) in 2014. He also held leadership roles within the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), serving as facility representative at IND for 12 years and on the executive board for an additional two years.

Brown’s officiating career spans 25 years across multiple sports, including baseball, basketball, and football. He has officiated nine Indiana state championships and has previously worked as an NFL replay official, contributing to playoff games and other Super Bowls.

A native of Indiana, Brown grew up on a family farm in Attica and earned his bachelor’s degree in aviation management from Purdue. Outside of officiating and air traffic control, he remains passionate about sports and officiating at various levels.
